Liberals, don’t abandon the federal government

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the national government became weaker than state governments? Well in history that has already happened, which is why the framework of the Articles of Confederation was edited to form the Constitution, resulting in restored power to the central government. As mentioned in an article titled “Liberals, don’t abandon the federal government” from The Washington Post, liberals have been increasingly active in supporting state rights.
Soon after President Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris climate accord, many states acted on their own to deal with climate change. In the past, liberal reformers were able to make accomplishments by relying on the national government because they have the power and resources that the states don’t. In the last two decades, this reliance on national government has slowly subsided as liberals raise their support for the authority of states.
This article is worth reading because it gives the readers insight on the amount of support the national government is receiving from liberals and conservatives, especially in this decade. While liberals see this time to protect their values, they should rethink their decision when it comes to supporting state governments over the national government.

One of the biggest issues arising in this world that the government should prioritize is combating climate change. Our newest president, Donald Trump, is not aiding in fighting climate change. Instead, he has been making former President Obama’s efforts inadequate by withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, as well as signing an executive order that would further get rid of Obama’s efforts to help climate change.
